Our Origin Story...
Nestled halfway up the historic Old Spiral Highway, Spiral Rock offers breathtaking views of the Lewis-Clark Valley, a region rich in history and beauty. The Old Spiral Highway, once the only route into the valley from the Palouse, provides a nostalgic backdrop for our unique property.
Over 20 years ago, Stu purchased this hillside haven with a vision. As an avid gardener and dreamer, he sought to make the most of the land's potential. Inspired by the Lewis-Clark Valley's deep-rooted history in grape growing, he planted vineyards on the hill and quickly found success cultivating grapes. However, recognizing the challenges of running a full-scale winery, Stu decided to focus on something even more meaningful--bringing people together.
Our name, Spiral Rock, was born out of our love for community. In our early years, we hosted an annual outdoor music festival on the lawn called "Spiral Rock," a celebration of music, laughter, and connection. The name stuck, and so did our passion for hosting memorable events.
What started as hosting weddings for friends evolved into a true calling. We realized how much we loved sharing our stunning space, with its sweeping views and serene charm, for life's most monumental celebrations. Today, Spiral Rock is a place where history, natural beauty, and community come together - a space designed to make your most cherished moments unforgettable.
Amy & Billy Doughty
Business Owners/Managers
Amy and Billy are the husband-and-wife team behind Spiral Rock. Amy was born and raised in Lewiston, while Billy is originally from Japan. They met in Hawaii, where they both moved for college, and spent over 15 years there building a life together and starting their family.
In 2019, they returned to Lewiston seeking a different pace of life and joined the family business, formerly Spiral Rock Vineyard. Over time, the vineyard transformed into the wedding venue they now proudly manage.
Billy is a former educator, cook, artist, and avid outdoorsman who brings creativity and energy to everything he does. Amy combines her background in psychology and Speech-Language Pathology, and passion for gardening, flower farming and event planning, to create beauty and connection in everything she does.
As a homeschooling family, they split their time between Idaho and Hawaii during the off-season, finding inspiration in travel, adventure, and the outdoors. They're honored to share this special place with you and to help you create unforgettable memories.
Becky & Stu Davis
Property Owners
Stu and Becky are the property owners and original visionaries of Spiral Rock. Over time they transformed the property into a breathtaking wedding venue that has hosted countless special moments over the years. After many years of hard work and dedication, they are now happily retired, enjoying life at a slower pace.
These days, Stu and Becky spend their time traveling to new destinations, enjoying life with their grandchildren and working on their next big adventure - building a new house. Their love for creativity and craftsmanship continues to shine through, even in retirement. Though they've passed the torch, their influence is felt in every detail of Spiral Rock, which remains a family-run labor of love.
